Book 2 -4 What to say when you talk to yourself

The techniques of Self-Talk. 

SILENT SELF-TALK   This is the self talk that goes on all the time-although we are usually not aware of it. Silent self talk can be conscious or unconscious internal dialogue  When we wake up in the morning, we could say “Today is going to be a great day”. 

Make a mental note of what you are talking to yourself and start the process of change by replacing it with new positive words.


SELF-SPEAK Anything you are saying aloud to yourself or to someone else about you. An example of this would be “ I do not like my job” . There are times in life when all of us are compelled to put up with a bad situation. But it is completely up to us to allow or not to allow that situation to work against us. 

Remember each statement that we make and repeat a number of time is a directive to our subconscious mind.


SELF-CONVERSTION This is one of the easiest to use and can be fun. This is the technique of talking to your self out loud and holding on to both ends of the conversation to yourself. It engages more of your senses. “ I am in great shape, I am healthy and strong.” 


SELF-WRITE It is the kind of self talk that you write it out for your self word for word. This will take time and diligence to practice and follow.  It could be written down on a deck of cards and could be used till the goal was accomplished. You could specifically write down self talk for each area of your life. In this process you become more aware of your objectives.


LISTENING TO SELF TALK This is a very practical way where you can either record and listen to your own words or listen to a similar self- talk audio. These can be created for very specific goals that you want to achieve.

He also mentions that when you want to fix a problem or achieve a goal, you have to fix more than the symptoms and in order to fix the problem the key is REPETITION. This is how the brain was designed to be programmed in the first place, So when we use repeated Self talk phrases , we are giving ourselves the programs that will immensely help us improve.
