Book 1 - SKILL WITH PEOPLE LES GIBLIN
Welcome friends to BOOKMARKED. What we are going to be doing here, is sharing a synopsis about a book on a daily basis.
Most of what I will be sharing will be from the Books I have personally read. Some of the books we will take a few days to cover while some other books can be covered in a day or two.
So here is the first book
Interacting with
people is very important today. Your skill with people determines the quality
of your social life, your business life and your family life. To be better in
our interactions with other people, we must properly understand people and
their nature.
This is a
beautiful book that can be read in about an hour’s time. *Skill with people* by Les Giblin is a
masterpiece of the art of handling
people.
Communication is
not only talking- it is listening, influencing, skilfully critique people,
praise people etc.
This book primarily talks about key aspects of any communication.
I am listing below
points from the book on the major topics covered. This will give you an idea on
what is being covered in this book.
Understanding people
and Human Nature
People are primarily
Interested in themselves
So, when you talk
to people- talking about them will be the most interesting subject. Things to avoid – “I, Me, Mine “
How do you make people feel Important? Listen to them, applaud and compliment, when
necessary, Repeat their names as often as you can.
How to skilfully agree
with people? Refrain from arguing with People, Admit when you are wrong, Some
people want to fight- with them you have to refuse to fight with them. They will
cool down in some time.
How to skilfully
Listen to People? - A good listener
always winds up far ahead than a good talker. Look at the person whom you are
talking to, lean toward them and listen intently, Ask the right questions, don’t
change the speakers subject or don’t interrupt them.
How to Skilfully
Influence People? Find out what will
make them do it, or what they want,- Then tell them what they want to hear.
This is especially good when you are either an interviewee or interviewer. Ask
questions, watch and listening to them will greatly help you in this regard.
